ศึกษากายวิภาคศาสตร์และคุณสมบัติบางประการของเนื้อไม้ของพืชสกุลมะม่วง 3 ชนิด คือ มะม่วง (Mangiferaindica L.) มะมุด (M. foetida Lour.) และมะม่วงกะล่อน (M. caloneura Lour.) โดยการตัดด้วยเครื่องตัดแบบเลื่อนไถลและการแช่ยุ่ยการวัดความหนาแน่น และความถ่วงจำเพาะ พบว่ามะม่วงมะมุด และมะม่วงกะล่อน มีการกระจายของเวสเซลคล้ายกัน คือ เป็นแบบกระจัดกระจาย แผ่นมีรูบริเวณปลายเซลล์มีรูเปิดเดียวโดยรอยเว้าบนผนังเซลล์เป็นแบบไม่มีขอบ การเรียงตัวของรอยเว้าแบบสลับลักษณะของพาเรงคิมาที่อยู่ในแกนตั้งของทั้ง 3 ชนิด มีความแตกต่างกันโดยมะม่วง มีพาเรงคิมาแบบติดพอร์โดยรอบและแบบปีกมะมุดมีพาเรงคิมาแบบปีก แบบปีกต่อ และแบบแถบ และมะม่วงกะล่อนมีพาเรงคิมาแบบติดพอร์โดยรอบแบบปีก และแบบแถบ ส่วนด้านคุณสมบัติของเนื้อไม้ทั้ง 3 ชนิด พบว่าไม้มะม่วงมีน้ำหนักเบา(723 g/cm3) เนื้อไม้มีความละเอียดปานกลาง ไม้มะมุดมีน้ำหนักเบา(520 g/cm3) เนื้อไม้มีความหยาบ และไม้มะม่วงกะล่อนมีน้ำหนักค่อนข้างหนัก (920 g/cm3) เนื้อไม้มีความหยาบสุด

     The wood anatomy and some properties of three Mangifera species; Mamuang (M. indica L.), Mamut (M. foetida Lour.) and Mamuang kalon (M. caloneura Lour.) were studied using sliding microtome, maceration method, and analysis of density and specific gravity. It was found that wood of these species are diffuse porous with simple perforation, simple pit and arrangement of pits on vessel is alternate. Axial parenchyma occurrence varies among the three species. Mangifera indica is vasicentric paratrachreal and aliform paratrachreal while M. foetida is aliform paratrachreal, aliform confluent paratrachreal and broad band apotrachreal and M. caloneura is vasicentric paratrachreal, aliform paratrachreal and broad band apotrachreal. In term of property, M. indica isrelatively light weight (723 g/cm3) and medium textured, M. foetida is relatively light weight (520 g/cm3) and extremely coarse-textured and M. caloneura is comparatively heavy weight (920 g/cm3) and extremely coarse-textured.
