ศึกษาลักษณะสัณฐานวิทยาของผลพืชเผ่าหมอน้อย (Vernonieae) วงศ์ทานตะวัน(Asteraceae) ในประเทศไทยจำนวน 14 สกุล 42 แทกซา จากตัวอย่างแห้งในพิพิธภัณฑ์พืช บรรยายลักษณะสัณฐานวิทยาของผลด้วยกล้องสเตอริโอและกล้องจุลทรรศน์อิเลกตรอนแบบส่องกราดและวิเคราะห์จัดกลุ่มพืชที่ศึกษา โดยใช้ลักษณะสัณฐานวิทยาของผลจำนวน 9 ลักษณะ ด้วยการวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบหลัก (Principal ComponentAnalysis, PCA) และการวิเคราะห์การจัดจำแนก (DiscriminantAnalysis, DA) พบว่าสามารถจำแนกพืชที่ศึกษาออกเป็น 4 กลุ่ม โดยมีค่าความถูกต้องในการจำแนกเท่ากับ 100% กลุ่มที่ I มีพืช 3 สกุล ได้แก่ Elephantopus, Kurziella และ Pulicarioidea กลุ่มที่ II มีพืช 8 สกุล ได้แก่ Acilepis, Cyanthilium, Decaneuropsis, Gymnanthemum, Monosis, Pseudelephantopus, Strobocalyx และ Tarlmounia กลุ่มที่ III มีพืช 2 สกุล ได้แก่  Camchaya และ Koyamasia และกลุม่ ที่ IV มีพืชเพียง 1 สกุล ได้แก่ Iodocephalopsis โดยลักษณะที่มีความสำคัญต่อการจำแนก ได้แก่ รูปร่างของแพปพัส การมีแพปพัส การมีฐานรองผลการติดของแพปพัสต่อมที่ผนังผล และจำนวนวงของแพปพัส นอกจากนี้ยังได้อภิปรายลักษณะสำคัญของพืชในแต่ละกลุ่ม

     The study of achenemorphology of 14 genera and 42 taxa of tribe Vernonieae (Asteraceae) in Thailand was conducted from herbarium specimens. Achenes were investigated and described by stereomicroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The morphometricanalysis was performed based on nine characters of achene using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Discriminant Analysis (DA). The results indicated that the studied taxa were divided into four groups with 100% accuracy. Group Iis comprised of three genera, Elephantopus, Kurziella and Pulicarioidea. Eight genera are grouped together in group II viz Acilepis, Cyanthilium, Decaneuropsis, Gymnanthemum, Monosis, Pseudelephantopus, Strobocalyx and Tarlmounia. Group III contains of two genera, Camchaya and Koyamasia. Group IV is separated as its own group with only one genus, Iodocephalopsis. The characteristics of achene that can be used for classification are pappus shape, the presence of pappus and carpopodium, pappus attachment, capitate glands and row number of pappus. The characteristics of each group are discussed.
